Visit Britain 360 Films

Visualise were approached by VisitBritain, the UK’s national tourism agency, to create a series of 360º videos to promote London and the UK as a tourist destination. The first film showed a first person view of a bike ride around interesting parts of East London, check out the video below!

Following films focused on an afternoon tea bus tour of the capital and London’s Christmas lights. The three films were shot in a day each, in various locations around London.

Equipment wise, the budget of the project meant we had to keep things simple. The first person view from the bicycle was shot with a helmet mounted GoPro Fusion and the same camera was clamped to the window for the exterior shots of the bus. Inside the bus, we used a Z-Cam S1 Pro which allowed us to capture greater detail in the varied light conditions.

The two films were delivered in a number of formats so that VisitBritain could use them across multiple channels and reach as wide an audience as possible. The main 360º videos were shared on YouTube & Facebook and a regular video was produced for PR & other web use. Importantly, we also created a ‘little planet’ version of the cycling film for Instagram, where the Visit Britain account has 382,000 followers. This project was a good example of how, even with a small budget, 360º videos can be an effective way of reaching a large audience.
