Intimacy

In My Shoes: Intimacy is a first person, 360° documentary which explores the power of human connection. View the trailer above.

Intimacy is designed for two people to experience three encounters from six very different perspectives. It tells the stories of two strangers, two comrades and two lovers, exploring the importance of intimacy in survival, relationships and sexuality from a first-person perspective. Set on a sofa, the experience will develop the relationship of the two participants through the interactions of the characters they will embody. Through eye contact & touch Intimacy explores the meanings and forms of human intimacy.

Intimacy is part of the In My Shoes project which was founded by Jane Gauntlett in 2016. In My Shoes is an internationally recognised empathy project, an ever-expanding collection of first-person documentary style interactive performances, which guide participants through the beautiful, the challenging, the mundane and the surreal aspects of being human. Jane is a storyteller with 10 years experience of working in theatre, interactive theatre, game and film. Narrative sits at the heart of all her work, which explores using technology as a way to intensify audience experience.

Having worked with Jane on the previous edition of the In My Shoes series Dancing with Myself, we were thrilled when she came to Visualise with the challenge of bringing Intimacy to life in 3D 360°. In order to capture the first person viewpoint as accurately as possible, our Director of Photography built a custom rig which would exactly replicate the view of each person.

In my Shoes: Intimacy had its world premier at Sheffield Doc Fest 2017 and will go on to tour international film, art and documentary festivals before being released as an app at the end of 2017.

The film has had a great reception so far and has been featured on numerous websites & publications including BBC Click (15:30), UploadVR & the BFI.
